Mark Henderson – Sapphire Life Master
My relationship with duplicate bridge began in 1966, spanning well over 50 years. Early success includes Purdue University championship (Dave Vance 1969), DSBA Club Championship (Fred Schmidt 1984). I became a Life Master as a result of two regional victories in Tulsa OK (Richard Bender 1997).
I’m blessed with a life partner who is also my favorite bridge partner. We enjoyed our first big bridge success winning a Sunday Swiss at the 2005 regional in Omaha NE. Since I retired in 2014 bridge has been a large part of our lives. Melody and I travel to five or six regionals a year, and at least one national.
I’m delighted to share this accomplishment with all the partners (Jeff, RDW, Kurt, Bern, David, Monte…and of course Melody) who have been patient with my excesses and understanding of my failures. I’m most proud to be included in an extensive collective of players that span a wide range of ability. We mix and match partnerships and teammates, share resources, and enjoy each others company away from the table.
